The band was formed back in the late 1990's when a drummer from Philadelphia, Steve Lewis, moved to the Wilmington area.  Steve built a great book of swinging charts and gathered some fantastic musicians.  Throughout the years, The Steve Lewis Orchestra has been entertaining audiences at summer concert series, retirement communities, church events and more.

It was a sad day in the summer of 2025 when Steve Lewis let the band know that he was retiring from the band.  To keep the music going Paul Immediato, a long time trumpet playing member, agreed to take over management of the band.  

"To honor Steve Lewis, I wanted to keep the initials (SL) of the band in tact.  Finding an appropriate musical name that starts with L was a bit of a challenge.  On a recent trip to Italy, my wife and I took a tour of a lemon plantation and it got me reflecting how lemons have always been a part of my life.  I often retell how, back in the day, when visiting the Philadelphia Italian market, I bought 14 lemons for $1!!!  My mom used to always make me lemon meringue pie for my birthday.  And I enjoy fresh lemons from my Myer lemon tree!" -- Paul
